Pathways of glucose dissimilation by Streptomyces olivaceus.

چکیده
There is considerable evidence for the existence of alternate pathways of glucose dissimilation in microbial systems (1). Several organisms belonging to the genus Xtreptomyces have been investigated by some workers (2, 3). Hockenhull et al. (4), Ganguly and Roy (5), and Wang et al. (6) have particularly studied Streptomyces griseus and showed that this organism utilizes both the glycolytic and the hexose monophosphate pathways for the metabolism of glucose. In the present investigation a similar study has been made on Streptomyces olivaceus, a species of the same genus that is exploited industrially for the production of vitamin Blz (7).

Identification and Characterization of Mycemycin Biosynthetic Gene Clusters in Streptomyces olivaceus FXJ8.012 and Streptomyces sp. FXJ1.235
Mycemycins A-E are new members of the dibenzoxazepinone (DBP) family, derived from the gntR gene-disrupted deep sea strain Streptomyces olivaceus FXJ8.012Δ1741 and the soil strain Streptomyces sp. FXJ1.235. In this paper, we report the identification of the gene clusters and pathways' inference for mycemycin biosynthesis in the two strains. Bioinformatics analyses of the genome sequences of S. ...

متن کاملOptimization of Culture Conditions for Production of the Anti-Leukemic Glutaminase Free L-Asparaginase by Newly Isolated Streptomyces olivaceus NEAE-119 Using Response Surface Methodology
Among the antitumor drugs, bacterial enzyme L-asparaginase has been employed as the most effective chemotherapeutic agent in pediatric oncotherapy especially for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Glutaminase free L-asparaginase producing actinomycetes were isolated from soil samples collected from Egypt. Among them, a potential culture, strain NEAE-119, was selected and identified on the basis of m...
متن کاملA new olivanic acid derivative produced by Streptomyces olivaceus: isolation and structural studies.
During recent years, members of a novel class of ~-lactam antibiotics containing a carbapenem nucleus have been reported1,2,3). Studies with a culture of Streptomyces olivaceus CBS 349.80 capable of producing members of the olivanic acid series of carbapenem antibiotics, have demonstrated the presence of a new, but related antibiotic as a minor component which has been designated MM 27696. Cult...

Four beta-lactam antibiotics with beta-lactamase inhibitory activity MM 22380, MM 22381, MM 22382 and MM 22383 containing the carbapenem nucleus have been isolated from a culture of Streptomyces olivaceus ATCC 31365. Fermentation conditions for their production and methods for their isolation are described. Evidence for a biosynthetic link between these compounds and the previously described ol...
